review: furious 7 & avengers – age of ultron

Both sequels, both “boy orientated” films and both massive films..

Fast & Furious 7

Synopsis:  “After defeating international terrorist Owen Shaw, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew have separated to return to more normal lives. However, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), Owen’s older brother, is thirsty for revenge. A slick government agent offers to help Dom and company take care of Shaw in exchange for their help in rescuing a kidnapped computer hacker who has developed a powerful surveillance program.”

Verdict 4/5: The film was as interesting and action packed as the first 2, and as a viewer who hasn’t seen any since Fast and Furious 4 it was still easy to follow what was going on. Obviously the untimely death of Paul Walker also drove the direction of the film, so take the tissues and prepare for a emotional finale!

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Synopsis:  “When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jump-starts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron, a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.”

Verdict 4.5/5: A fantastic follow up to the 2012’s The Avengers (Avengers Assemble in the UK) which is full to the brim of action, emotion and everything a comic book nerd (or former nerd) could want! Although not a good as the first, a worthy sequel which is easily better than most films out this summer!
