It’s that time again where at midnight the couples will be heavily involved in a game of tonsil tennis, whilst us singletons are there taking one shot of vodka after another…. Here are the key looks to keep your outfit on fleek this New Year’s Eve.
Depending on your NYE venue can depend on what you wear. If you’re having a fancier night on the tiles, Blazer’s are a simple way to smarten up any outfit. Pops of colour are perfect for the occasion and this season’s wardrobe, so why not try a plain grey or black t-shirt with a coloured blazer.
First shown below is the Montague Burton Rust Wool Blazer from Burton Menswear at £60.00. Following this is the ASOS Super Skinny Suit Jacket In Green from ASOS at £60.00. Finally below that is the Noose And Monkey Navy Jacket from Topman and is the priciest at £140.00 but is defiantely the strongest piece.
Shirts have a versatile look. Some can ensure you look just as smart (even without the blazer) or some can ensure a more dressed down chilled look (think indie vibes). Here’s my picks to cover both bases.
The Lux Camel Moses Drape Pocket Shirt from Topman is the perfect example of smart using this seasons key colour – Camel, and is £35.00. Following this is the Long Fit Checked Shirt from Zara, perfect for a more chilled look (and great for those of you like me who have a longer torso than average) and comes in at £29.99. Finally the River Island Long Sleeve Shirt with Floral Botanical Print from ASOS which is perfect for that in between place of fashionable yet smart, and comes in at a respectable £30.00.
So to go with your shiny new blazer or your casual-chic shirt, you’ll need to have the perfect trouser combination. This can be jeans, chinos or trousers depending on the outfit type. See my top pick of each style below.
Firstly is the Washed Black Ripped Knee Spray On Skinny Jeans from Topman. Ripped jeans are the key jean style of 2015, so what better way to say goodbye to year than to wear these bad boys. Coming in at £38.00 they’ll probably get you through 2016 too. Following this is the Chinos Slim fit from H&M which are a bargain at £14.99. Finally for trousers is the Smart Trousers With Pleats from ASOS. These are a little different and come in a cropped length with a dropped crotch, but can really make your outfit stand out. Coming in at £32.00 these are definitely worth the price tag.
To finish off your perfect combination of shirt with blazer, blazer-less casual shirt with chinos, skinny ripped jeans and checked longline, you’ll need the perfect shoes. As with the above, the style can be dependant on the venue for your NYE event.
First, is one of my favourites, and the key shoes for 2015. The Chelsea Boots in Black Suede With Double Zip from ASOS which are £55.00. These will be able to match most outfits, and have the cool texture of suede. Following this is a more casual shoe, but 2015 has seen these blow up as a fashion essential – the stylish sneaker. These can pop some colour into your bland outfit without you doing more than putting on a pair of shoes. My pick is the Roshe One Flyknit Premium from Nike which are a steep £97.00 but are worth the investment, as you can wear these for the day and night. Finally is the Velvet Loafers with Tassels from Zara. At £49.99 these are the cheapest of the shoes pick, but definitely class up any outfit (perfect with the cropped trousers from earlier).
