Okay so it’s been out a while and I meant to write this review a while ago, but you know, shit happens.
March saw the release of the live action remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Remember the talking clock and candle stick, a tale as old as time and wolves in the forest? Well they’re all back for a more life like version in Disney’s quest to remake it’s old classics.
Synopsis: “Disney’s animated classic takes on a new form, with a widened mythology and an all-star cast. A young prince, imprisoned in the form of a beast, can be freed only by true love. What may be his only opportunity arrives when he meets Belle, the only human girl to ever visit the castle since it was enchanted.” [Credit IMDB]
Verdict 5/5: Now it’s not very often I give a 5/5 but I believe in giving credit, where credit is due. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is truly a magical remake of the original animated classic, which unlike some of the more recent Disney live action remakes, sticks to the source material and doesn’t steer away from the original story (smart move Disney).
Not only is the film everything you’d want from a live action remake, the casting is excellent (with props to Emma Watson for bringing Belle to life – literally) and the visual direction and effects are excellent. Well done Disney for remaking a classic, in a timely & sophisticated way.
